Family Month Celebration at the Goyang Flower Festival
Friends are the family we choose.
Aside from the various spring festivals, May also marks the family month in Korea. Last week was designated as a long holiday from May 5-8 to celebrate both Children's and Parent's day. So what better way to spend the golden holiday than to explore one of the biggest flower festivals with my Daegu squad?
Whether you're a KPOP fan, couple, family, friends, young or old, there's definitely something for you at the festival. We first explored the pavilions holding the flower exhibits. There were special exhibits represented by some countries and their unique products. I've never seen so many kinds of flowers all in one place. The exhibits featured flower arrangement by different artists as well as products ranging from flower scents, cakes, arts and crafts and even wood works.
After the exhibits, we headed out to see the gigantic pieces of flower statues showcased at the Goyang Park. Everyone was in awe as we marveled at the flowery trails and sculptures around us.
The highlight for us is this noraebang (karaoke) tunnel where thousands of LED lights accompanies the hip KPOP music background. Of course, we couldn't resist taking a Mother's day video as a shoutout to our lovely mothers who served as our guiding lights. May their lights always shine bright as they continue to light our paths in whatever dark tunnels we may face.
Then there's the proposal and couple zone . Guys planning to confess to their significant others can simply pop the question in front of the huge installation arts along with the fireworks show for a truly unforgettable romantic experience. She would be so enchanted by the sweet gesture that you'll definitely get her YES. ;)
After walking around the flower exhibits, visitors can also enjoy a relaxing boat ride at the Goyang Lake. Fee is 10, 000 for 2 people. The sunset makes a perfect backdrop as you paddle at the lake and view the reflection of the lights in the water.
The highlight of the festival is the 10-minute firework display to end the spectacular night. The beauty of the dark sky was illuminated with sparkling bursts of lights and colors.
The Goyang Flower Festival was truly a delightful experience you shouldn't miss with your family and friends. It will last only until May 15 so make sure to gather up your closest buddies and have your squad memories taken at the event. Oh, and don't forget to muster up the courage for the perfect proposal opportunity. ^^
