Burying Under the Mud in Boryeong

Boryeong is mostly known for its beaches particularly Daechon Beach where the Mud Festival is held annually. This is one festival you shouldn't miss.



One of the must-see festivals in Korea is the Boryeong Mud Festival. Every year, this festival attracts a lot of locals and foreigners alike. There was a record of over 3 million visitors last year. Tourists get down and dirty under the heap of mud.





Participants got the chance to enjoy various activities such as getting coloured mud body paintings, mud-wrestling and racing. There were also gigantic  mudslides in the venue. Mud is actually believed to have cosmetic benefits for the skin.

How to get to Boryeong:

RIDING the TRAINFROM SEOUL
Departure station: Yongsan Railway Station (용산역 KTX) (Located on subway line 1 and the Jungang ine)
Train tickets: Regular ticket (16,000 won), Luxury ticket (25,200 won)
Train details: The train name (Saemaul (express) Train)
Train route: Yongsan Station > Daecheon Station
Train Time Table: The train departs every hour from Yongsan Station
Travel time: Total (2 hours and 30 minutes)
Arrival station: Daecheon Station
If you are departing from Seoul the first step is to head to Yongsan Railway station. You will need to go to the ticket counter and purchase either round trip or one-way tickets at the station. You can and it is recommended to purchase tickets in advance.
After you arrive at Daecheon Station you will need to take a local bus to Daecheon Beach. A bus headed towards Daecheon beach leaves from Daecheon Station every 10 minutes. The bus ride will take about 40 minutes.
So getting down and dirty just got better! Slathering on mud is the coolest beauty secret you should try.
